Influencer, Stevie Parle

British chef, owner of Dock Kitchen and food writer, Stevie Parle, gives us an inside look at his Notting Hill.

Where do you live?
I live in Kent now but I used to live on the Golbourne Rd.

How long been in the area?
I've been running the Dock Kitchen for nearly 8 years now.

What do you love most about Notting Hill?
The Carnival. Every year it's a brilliant celebration - colourful, fun, great food and music. It really is a tribute to all that is good about London and it's great for Notting Hill to remember its history sometimes.

Favourite hidden gem?
I love the Moroccan food stalls on the Golbourne Rd. A sardine and harissa sandwich is always a pleasure.

Favourite place for a drink?
Trailer Happiness. A kitsch, fun cocktail bar on Portobello Rd.

Favourite restaurant, café?
Mine of course, though I'm hearing great things about 108 Garage.

Best places to shop?
Books for Cooks. I love to drop by and say hello to Eric. He's always got a recommendation I'd never expect.

Best way to spend a lazy afternoon in London?
I love to wander round Portobello, up to Westbourne Grove and into Hyde Park. I always think it's a real privilege to live in a city with so much green so always try and hang out in a park if I can.

Top 5 things you recommend to do in the capital?
1: Visit one of the night markets in east London run by London Union. Dinerama, in Shoreditch, is like no where else on earth – a couple of thousand people eating, drinking, laughing, loving and soaking up the vibes.

2: Pop into the National Gallery for just 10 minutes. It's amazing to be able to pop in, free of charge, on your way somewhere else and look at some of the greatest paintings in the history of the world. I particularly like the Christian devotional art in the Sainsbury Wing.

3: Eat at The River Cafe. One of the great restaurants of the world and where I started my career as a chef at the age of 17. Not cheap, but worth every penny.

4: Visit Maltby St and Spa Terminus markets in Bermondsey on a Saturday morning and find out just how good British produce is right now.

5: Walk. Walk the city, the parks, the streets, the cobbles. I just love to walk in London.
