The History of The Portobello Hotel
"It has always been our passion to keep the history of Potobello alive, and it has been exciting to watch its journey over the years. It all began in 1971 when there was a shortage of luxury hotels in West London. Over the years, Portobello has been home to many high profile guests, both staying and working from the music and fashion industry, and became a bolthole for the famous to come and hide from the media."

The Musicians of Portobello
Home to many rockers and rollers who recorded seminal records just around the corner, The Portobello Hotel has played host to many famous faces over the years. From the rockstars of the swinging 60s to Brit Pop legends Blur in the 90s, the bright and vibrant atmosphere of our hotel drew many influential musicians to this corner of West London.
Rumour Has It
Legend has it that Johnny Depp and Kate Moss once bathed in Champagne in the decadent Room 16. Other musicians and celebrities to walk through the doors include Alice Cooper and Robbie Williams (who tried to buy our famed circular bed from Room 16). Although our books aren't filled with VIPs as often as they once were, we still have celebrity guests come to stay.
We pride ourselves in our laid-back approach to luxury, so we ask that any guests who happen to see a famous face relaxing in the Sitting Room with a breakfast or a drink to please allow them to simply enjoy their stay.
Relaxing, Homely Luxury
We are here to offer you a stylish place to relax in the heart of West London's Notting Hill.
